Well the 2015 Bassmaster Elite Series season has come and gone. At the start of the year had you said I would finish in 37th place and in the 2016 Bassmaster Classic I would say it was an okay year. Had you told me I would fall down to that spot after sitting in the Top 12 in points after Bass Fest I would have been concerned. The year started off great with a couple Top-10’s after my first Bassmaster Classic in which I ended up 19th. More about that in a minute but all in all it was a solid 2015 season.
The highlights of the year of course were the 4th place finish at the Sabine River and 9th at Bass Fest on KY Lake. The opportunities for improvement next year relate to smallmouth fishing on big water. St. Lawrence, St. Clair and the AOY Championship were all smallmouth events where I had a solid first day and then the following days saw a major decrease in the weight. I still haven’t quite figured out how to fix that but intend to that’s for sure.
As for the Bassmaster Classic – that was an amazing experience. The fans, media and everything that led up to the event got me fired up and then once I got to South Carolina it was like no other event I have ever fished. I was fortunate to learn some things about the lake in a scouting trip and then during practice that really helped me get on a solid pattern. It was extremely satisfying to have a Top 20 in my first one. I can’t wait to start practice for the 2016 Bassmaster Classic on Grand Lake.
I do want to thank all of you for supporting me this year and all the sponsor support. I’ve got one more Bassmaster Open coming up and then its time to sell the boat, build some more rods, and get ready for 2016.
